Next Art Event? Any Ideas?

I would like to hear from you all out there. What sort of events/workshops would you like to see LWAC (London Women's Artist Collective) hold? Is there a certain art form/method that interests you, that you want to learn about or that you want to share with others. Is there an event happening that you would like to see LWAC participate in or attend? Are there collaborations or art efforts that need our attention? Ideas, comments, suggestions, any one?

Have a fantastic long weekend all.

Okay, here is a list of the contents of my silk screening kit:

1. a screen

2. Black, red, and yellow paint

3. a squeegee

4. photo emulsion

5. screen filler

6. drawing fluid

I think that items 4-6 are for transferring photos to fabrics and that seems really complex but I'll bring the whole kit anyway.

silk screening

I would love to go to any of these event ideas, however I am usually busy when they're held. I also have a how to silkscreen  zine that I made last year for "lady fest guelph" and I  could make copies of it and give them out to whoever shows up or give them to someone who can bring them if I can't make it.

SIlk-screening zine

Nat, that would be great if we had some how-to instructions. Let me know if you are planning to come (tentative date Aug 17 - evening or if we need to arrange a drop off/pick up to get copies from you.

Anyone else out there have supplies/know-how/want to be involved?

Could someone email me location and directions (I'll be taking the bus or biking from the old south) - rellis23@uwo.ca

Thanks!!

Hey Melissa (and other LWAC

Hey Melissa (and other LWAC members),

I'd love to participate in future LWAC events, I think it's a great initiative.

As for furture events, I'd really love a sewing bee because I'd like to start making some of my own clothes. I'd also love a silk-screening workshop (I have a kit that has never been used)! I'm interested in lots of stuff though and am excited about participating in lots of new activities,

Becky

Silk - screening...YES!

Silk - screening...YES! I've always wanted to learn. Becky, pick a day in the next few months that is good for you and we'll organize it. Are there other necessary materials I could round up? Making clothes is something many of us have expressed interest in. Definitely on the agenda for the future too.

Thanks so much for the input.

Sounds great

I would love to organize a silk screening workshop for sometime in August. Any weekday evening or a Saturday would work really well for me. I've never even cracked open my kit but it has paints and a screen. I think we might need a squeegee and also, stencils. People who come can bring t-shirts or something to print. And hopefully someone can come who knows how to silkscreen! I have seriously never used the kit!

I would really love to see this happen!

Silk-screening...tentative date/time

Well, since LWAC is usually meeting every other Thursday, we can try for Thursday August 17th in the evening. I know someone else who may have useful supplies for this so I will try to get in touch with them before we confirm. And we will definitely have everyone bring a piece of clothing or fabric to try it out with. I would recommend having it at Project Solidarity studio, because it is such a great open space.

Maybe...

I am definitely interested, but can't commit yet.
At a recent yard sale, I picked up a couple small screens, but have no idea of what to do with them.
Currently the landlord crisis and it's potential resolution is running my life.
I will commit when I know more about my living situation.
We may even consider a theme.
For example there were some screened scraps of fabric about cycling issues at the Regional Social Forum.
Maybe we could do the same and bring them to the next Critical Mass ( or other issue/event) for distribution.
