Revision of LC Development Session from April 28, 2008 - 11:11am

Most important item to discuss: resetting a date for launch upon revisiting what we can get done by when now that we're only two members - and have spent very little time working on the LC as of late. That both Jeremy and I have conflicting work schedules doesn't help. Also, choosing location is a little tricky since I'd like public input but I'm going to suggest Jeremy's place since the people that I'm aware of that may want to provide input are all friends of Jeremy and I. Jeremy, if you have any issue with the time/place of this session please change it via admin and I will try to work around that - you know my work schedule.

Well, we have a our list of things that need to get done for launch already.

Considering that much of what needed to be done is my hands I'll here the stuff I've done, almost completed, and bugs/issues impeding completion of objectives:

 

1.  I've eliminated most bugs from working with Zen. Zen really is a blank slate for working with Drupal but has it's own share of bugs. There may be some issues with IE 5.5 but that I can clear up once I have another couple hours with said browser. Only issues remaining that I can fix but haven't had the time to is: implementing ".clearfix" to ensure that floated elements with internal containers are sized properly in FF & Saf.
2. Admin theme almost complete without issues. Admin theme currently only sports a single (right) sidebar.
3. Regions, Sidebars, Mission Statements, Taxonomy, Breadcrumbs and such are all almost laid out completely. The exceptions being that I haven't worked out node specific stuff yet. 
4. The biggest hurdle here is a bug that outputs all nodes as node-type-audio prior to the theme layer which is puzzling me. [Driving me batty actually.] This is the only bug I'm requesting to be squashed before launch. I currently can't theme group pages (which are nodes) and any other node-type individually.
5. The handling of images still needs some sorting. In order to complete how, at least front-page, teasers will appear these three things need to be done: image.module needs to be updated, imagemagick must be installed (is it already?) and setup, and a (cropped&resized) preset ought to be made for, at least, user pictures. The latest version of image allows for cropping of all images via imagemagick. This will allow almost allow total control over how teasers with images can be laid out - exception being there's still no image-field capability.
6. Panels are still to be setup although the template layouts are ready. Once the other issues are sorted out though, this will be quick and easy. The only extra styling required really is that for panel specific views and nodes. 
7. I've worked out a way of integrating a more graphic, and well-placed, "read-more" link next to teaser text but still need to wait until the node-type issue is fixed on the site till that gets in there.
8. The parent navigation links of the action menu must be either inactivated still.
9. Optimization of the theme, as I've said, can't be accomplished until everything else that is to be done for launch is completed. Still, the theme is already ridiculously more efficient than this stupid garland-hack.
10. Also, a module that I think should be installed prior to launch is PNG-Fix. I can't see any reason why we can't install it. It has no footprint and simply ensures that all .png files will render properly in IE 5.5. I can implement it at the theme level but I'm not sure it's going to work. 

That covers most of it I think. There are other things I've done to make this the ultimate ground-work for future LC theming (other themes) but I can't cover that here.
