Rube Goldberg machine contest 2008

Embedded video:

Just popped up on engadget.com, the national Rube Goldberg machine contest of 2008. This years challenge was to make a hamburger in no less than 20 steps ..

here's the article with a peak at this years coverage. (blog.makezine.com)

Rube Goldberg is well known for his political cartoons, usually involving "contraptions" that make a one or two step process take a much more ridiculous, multiple step and usually outrageous path to accomplish the same result. Nerds love em..

edit - posted the video rachel linked to.. and added to group "amazing video society"

hellz yes

I LOVE rube goldberg machines.

If only I had the time and proper materials available to me....

Some of the pictures of those machines are really intense!
I spied a stuffed killer whale, a mr. potato head, a pool ball, a whisk, and what appears to ba a series of small gravestones??

When is this competition coming to london!?

I hope the video is up soon.
