Apr 9 2008 - 5:00pm
Apr 9 2008 - 7:00pm
Location:
Central Library - 251 Dundas st (between wellington and clarence)

Hey All,

I think it's time for an in the flesh LC meeting.
Please post agenda items as comments below, with a brief description if you wish.

The date and time are not set in stone, so if there is a better time/place please suggest it.
Also welcome are suggestions for outside facilitators (so hard to find!!) or reminders about anything I may have overlooked in this posting.

Hopefully a good few can make it out so we can have some much needed discussion.

Peace,

Rachel

can't make wednesdays

work takes me off the list to attend.  I can attend via the chatroom/msn/skype/whatev remotely if I can wake up in time..

actually that wouldn't be a bad idea, someone show up with a laptop and take remote calls for conferencing.. it is a website right.. having remote attendees might not be a bad idea if people can't make it for whatever reason.

A Working Group Model for

- A Working Group Model for the LC - I'll make a proposal for how this could be defined. Discussion involves: rights of working groups, and the rights of general body/community over those workings groups.

- Introduction of voting (democracy) to the general group simply and only for waying in on decisions made, or actions taken, by working groups (such as features implemented, or design elements made, for the website). I'll make the case for why consensus can't be used in this particular situation.

LC Meeting

The library works for me because it's got wireless and you can spread out, but weeknights are problematic. What was your previous experience with weekend afternoon meetings?

For those unable to attend, and provided that the agenda is published far enough in advance, are written submissions ok?

re:written submissions

I think they should be ok.
As matti suggested we need to figure out a way to get feedback from the online community, as there are a lot of people who can't or don't want to come out to a meeting but have valuable input that we should consider.

What do you think would be effective in the interim?

Sending written submissions along with somone who you know is attending (/emailing them)?

Posting them to the site?

an electronic suggestion box?

online feedback

hey y'all;

can you add 3 things:

1- brainstorm/discussion on how to request and collect online feedback (and how the collected info will be used in the meetings to make new proposals or decisions)

2- becoming a not-for-profit cooperative (and maybe, finally doing it)

3- LC theme

also,

may i suggest MYKONOS on adelaide st. and elias, i find the library area to be quite distracting.

i love all y'all

getting the ball rolling...

a few suggested agenda items:

- Comment rating system (take it, leave it, alter it?)

- Making LC meetings more inclusive to Women (and other under-represented groups)
