Description

I cannot believe the number of people that do not know how to make yorkshire pudding. It is super easy to make, tastes super good, and is an essential part of any roast beef dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 c flour
  • 1 c milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pn salt
  • 3 T oil or fat of some sort (bacon fat is really the best)

Instructions

-Combine all ingedients into a bowl and mix. Seriously now, the only leavening agent you are going to use is your arm and a whisk, so you really need to beat this thing. I like to do it in stages; beat until my arm gets tired, eat a cookie, and then repeat a couple of times. There should be bubble noticable, and the whole mass should have increased in size

- Preheat oven to 475 (f) and place a 9" x 9" x 2" glass dish with the oil in to heat up.

- Once the oven is up to temperature, mix the pudding batter one more time and pour into the baking dish (CAREFUL NOW, THAT OIL IS HOT!!!!)

- Bake for 15 minutes, and then turn oven down to 350 (f) and bake for another half hour, or until you have finished making the gravy and mashing the potatoes.

- Drain with paper towels, cut into squares and enjoy.

Notes

You can make this same batter into pop-overs with a few minor variations. Use large muffin tins instead of the glass dish (make sure you only fill them up half way, as it is going to rise), and bake for a slightly shorter period of time.
