No. Absolutely not. I've looked into it myself, and it has no rational / scientific basis for existing as a solution.

I would most likely offer up my tax dollars / invest in this type of technology to have it exist in my region.

"Those biofuels probably will help, but probably only a little."
They're unproven, of course.
Since so much is a stake we need to focus on cutting down demands rather than acquiring supplies. It will take time to cut down the demands though, and the supplies are getting scarcer.
