Neat show at the London Music Club on Saturday, Nov. 24th

Hello all,

This is my inaugural posting at the London Commons.  Such a momentous occasion!  Perhaps it requires a toast, or the breaking open of a champagne bottle, or something of that ilk...  Okay, here goes: I'm coordinating a show at the London Music Club on Saturday, Nov. 24th.  It should be an interesting and entertaining event.

Performers include:

Nick Zubeck - based out of Toronto.  An excellent guitarist who has played with numerous Toronto-based musicians including Barzin and Sandro Perri.  His stuff is beautifully dreamy; he's remarkably proficient on his instrument and creates beautiful layers with the many pedals he employs.  Nick may be coming down with his upright bass player, but he'll blow you away, even if he plays alone.  Check out his myspace: www.myspace.com/nickzubeck, particularly his song "Reeds", which is my favourite.  He's also Polish, which is almost always a sign of goodness.

a priori - Ian Doig-Phaneuf and Pete Lebel's experimental concoction.  Check out Ian's descriptions in his earlier posts for a sense of what these two chaps are up to.  As far as I know, it involves many pedals, a drum kit, lots of additional instruments, a loop pedal or sampler or something of the sort, and the two of them running back and forth managing all of the various sounds.

Deathstyle - based out of Hamilton.  Mac sounds a bit like Frank Black.  He's bringing a band and his own visual display.  Don't know what he's planning, but I do know he plays a mean vibraphone when in Barzin's band.  Check out his site: www.myspace.com/deathstyle666.

And me: Olenka & the Autumn Lovers - I play my classical acoustic guitar.  My stuff sounds like Gillian Welch, Townes Van Zandt, Cat Power, and Beirut (or so I've been told).  I write in English and Polish.  My friend Shawn Clarke will be joining me on a few songs at this show, contributing xylophone, saxophone and bass clarinet.  Other contributers to my set may include Mike O'Brien (Sick Friend) and Nic Lefebvre (birdsacrossthewater) on trumpet and accordion respectively.  And there's always audience participation: I bring shakers, you shake 'em.  My site: www.myspace.com/alexandrakrakus.

We're also planning a visual display, which may involve audience participation as well, so bring washable markers!
AND COME OUT!

WHERE: London Music Club (470 Colborne)
WHEN: Sat. Nov. 24; 9pm
HOW MUCH: $10 @ door

Thanks/Dzienkuje!
