London Commons meeting Thurs. August 9th 6pm

Aug 9 2007 - 6:00pm
Aug 9 2007 - 8:00pm
Location:
Alex P. Keaton 580 Talbot St. at Albert. Description:

We need to have a meeting.

If you have a laptop, please bring it to the meeting.  A lot of work has been done on the development sites and we need feedback from people while we're working on it not after we've finished the work.  E.g. please take opportunities like this to tell us what needs to be changed, instead of waiting until the site is upgraded and then telling us.

Please post other agenda items as comments in this thread.

All users of the website are welcome to attend and participate.  We follow a process of facilitated consensus decision making that is pretty easy to get used to.  More about consensus

Launch Party

In a few weeks time the LC will undergo it's long awaited upgrade, which will include new features and a new look. We want to have a launch party to celebrate.

Rachel will start a committee that will be responsible for organizing the party.
The Dev committee needs to inform us of a more exact date.

New features

Jer gave everyone present a walk-through of the new features on the dev site.
Some examples include: regular and advanced user interfaces, spellcheck, chatroom and many more new/revised content types (inc. recipes)

Archive

Jer would like to create a subdomain, hosted by the london commons to house archives of local sites that have disappeared (archives@londoncommons.net) .

Jer would like to approach Chris Doty's estate about having his website, as it was when he died, posted to the lc archives.

The group gave consensus.

agenda items: launch of new site and review up upgrades

Two items for the agenda:

First, Thomas suggested the idea of holding a launch party to promote/celebrate the upgraded site when it's finished.  Hopefully some live music, art.. maybe we can do a live audio stream and have moderators and developers available in the chatroom to help people with new features on the site.

Second, we should discuss the new features that are being worked on so people have an idea of what's coming and can provide feedback on priorities, implementation etc.
