Vox Dance Populi presents:

Banged UP
Friday July 13th

Acts:

Spencer Dee

Since relocating to Montreal, Spencer Daniels has grown to over eight feet tall and established himself as the greatest DJ the world has ever known. Playing only the most trendy and vapid electro he can routinely be caught trainwrecking mixes in front of coked-out-tight-pant-wearing scencesters in various hipster havens throughout the city. Spencer first cut his jib as a DJ in London, Ontario, where he reigned as a drunken breakbeat juggernaut for half a decade. As a fixture of the scene and founder of Ish! events, he was responsible for some of the most underwhelming nights the city had ever seen. At the now defunct Release Records, Spencer was routinely found working weekends passed out hungover in the La-Z-Boy waking only occasionally to sell warped pieces of wax to neighbourhood junkies. In recent years Spencer’s sound has evolved to include the grimey sounds of B-More, disposable New Rave anthems, and, whatever other tracks bloggers consider cool that day. Possessing no discernable taste of his own, his uninspired selections are sure to make you puke all over yourself.

Justin Tyce

One of the few DJs bridging the gap between post-rave DJ culture and the new wave of indie-dance parties. As a resident & promoter of the ‘Be Nice’ nights at Toronto’s famous Queens Head Pub and partner in both ONdaFLY & TightKnit Promotions this guy gets around. He's played everywhere from The Guvernment in Toronto to WEMF to a lounge under the infamous 'Chelsea Hotel' in NYC. His Last trip to London was under the Alias of T&A with Adam Addison of The Beat Freakers... This time he's bringing a new bag of tricks all on his lonesome

Vox Dance Populi Soundsystem

Simply put: They Don’t Give A Fuck! V.D.P. Are Not Into: playing/posing the latest dance crave, egos on the dance floor, limiting genres, and bad attitudes. V.D.P. Are Into: hanging out, bangin’ out tight jams, blowing your speakers, gutter disco thrash and your mom. Peep it, y’hear?!

DJ Freek

Freek is one of those rare breed DJs that tredge their own path and end up destroying peoples ears. With his roots in indie rock and drum and bass, he has merged the two with hard edged electro to create a fast and fun hybrid that keeps all the ladies and the fellas foaming at the mouth in anticipation for their next fix. Think 80's, New-Wave, Bloc Party meets John B.

Milla

Having been hidden from the public for some time, in his lair, isolated from society, nobody knows where this mutant of a DJ came from to take the DMC Competition last month in London. On Friday the 13th, he surfaces for one night only to showcase his talent and play the winning set.

Eklectik Dyslexik

He has banged out clubs, raves, lounges, bars, warehouses, toolsheds, international space stations, and children's puppet-shows. His aggressively mixed musical selection is equally varied: ranging from computer disco, to new wave, freestyle, breakdance, house, french electro, dance punk and b-more. Usually the first one of the dance floor himself, he knows how to move the crowd.

The Venue?

The Rum Runners Music Hall features a rooftop patio, multiple dancefloors, chill areas, and London’s BEST soundsystem and lighting setups. Classy ambiance yet still conducive to reckless abandonment.
