The London Plastic Bag reduction Project - volunteers welcome
Masonville Library, North London Community Room Description:
Are you keen to help the planet? Are you simply itching to join a team & get your voice heard? Do you want to make a difference?
The London Plastic Bag project needs you!
We are looking to start a team, share ideas and strategies to reduce & rationalise the use of plastic bags here in London. We also need help with a website & publicity.
Even if you just want to find out more information, please come along.
Time commitments are purely up to you. Whatever you can offer is great.

recycling plastic bags
I know this isn't the answer to the problem, but it is better than throwing them in the garbage. Currently, (unless policies have changed) plastic bags are not recyclable in London. I give all of my plastic bags to my parents who live in Aylmer - they are recyclable there. I think using cloth bags is a great idea, but there are also those times when you don't have your cloth bag handy - so a recycling program would be beneficial as well.
Plastic Bag Reduction
I fully support this initiative. I hope to make myself available for this committee.
What I do know is that we have to include the business community. Recently, while shopping at Loblaws with my own reusable bags I was given a one cent discount. Businesses need to find ways to make it more attractive to use your personal bags.
