YO!

It's alleycat time again.

SUMMER.SPIN will be a 10 checkpoint alleycat race, plus 'left turns' - apx. 18km - taking place in the downtown core. $5 entry, per racer. Any type of bicycle is allowed. Bring a bag. Prizes given out at the after party... at the Victoria Tavern.

Organizers will be doing things a bit different this time around.

1) HELMETS ARE MANDATORY!! HELMETS ARE MANDATORY!! HELMETS ARE MANDATORY!! It's safer, and smarter to be protected... and we gave our word to Mitch B... [whattup mitch?!] If you don't have a helmet... get one. If you cannot get one email us and we'll find you one. Also, if there are peeps' with extra bicycle helmets out there who don't mind lending them out for the race, please let us know by email or on this site. thanks.

2) The Race Manifest will be released early -- on July 1st -- we have noticed that some racers still do not know the city too well. This will give you a chance to go ride around and find a nice route.

3) Pick-ups and Drop-offs and 'Left turns' will be used in this race. So far, we've only had racers drop off envelopes thet they were given at the starting point. In SUMMER.SPIN racers will be picking up packages at various checkpoints along their route, these will have to be dropped to the right address, in addition to the packages received at the starting point... these additional/surprise packages are referred to as 'left turns'.

4) Starting Point is different: We will be meeting on Bathurst St. - under the Adelaide St. bridge.

Start: 6:00-6:30pm...Racers meet under the Adelaide St. Bridge on Bathurst St.

Checkpoints 1 through 6 -- RACERS MUST COMPLETE IN ORDER

1) LOWERY SIGNS: 24 Bathurst St. (just west of Ridout St.)

2) COVENT GARDEN MARKET: 130 King St. (front steps -west side of building)

3) H.B. BEAL SECONDARY SCHOOL TRACK: SE Corner of Maitland St. and King St.

4) WESTERN FAIR: 900 King St. (Farmer's Market Buliding at Ontario St.)

5) CP RAIL YARDS: Ontario St. and Central Ave.

6) VICTORIA PARK GATES: at Central Ave. and Richmond St.

These next 4 Checkpoints may be completed in any order you choose:

Canada Customs and Revenue Agency: 451 Talbot St. (b/w Queens Ave. and Carling St.)

Lil' Red Roaster: 226 Piccadilly St. (east of Richmond St.)

The Alex P. Keaton: 580 Talbot St. (corner of Albert St.)

Community Outreach Gallery: 101 Stanley St. (corner of Wharncliffe Rd.)

Reminder: racers will receive 'left turns' at some of the above checkpoints. these will be additional checkpoints that must be completed before finishing. also, racers should bring a bag/backpack. packages will be larger this time around.

finally, a date. i missed the last one so now i'm holding my breath in anticpamation....things are geting a little fuzzy......maybe this wasnt such a good idea....somebody call an ambulance.....ugh
