Who knows Spanish? (Need some recipies translated)
hey there,
I'm wondering if anyone here knows Spanish well enough to translate a couple of recipies from Spanish to English. I have a couple of recipies for Agua de Cebada which I can deduce bits and peices of... but not enough to figure them out... here they are:
AGUA DE CEBADA
Ingredientes
- 1 l de agua de cebada :
- 4 tazas de agua.
- Media taza de cebada
- 1 cucharada de azúcar integral de caña
- Canela ( opcional)

Mike, This is what Sherlock
Mike,
This is what Sherlock on OS X comes up with:
BARLEY WATER
Ingredients
- 1 barley water l:
- 4 water cups.
- Average cup of barley
- 1 spoonful of integral cane sugar
- Cinnamon (optional)
- Skin of lemon (optional)
Preparation
- the water is put to boil.
- When this boiling adds the barley and it is let cook during 45
minutes to untimed fire.
- Soon, the barley is strained and it separates of the water
- To add one cucharad of azucar of cane and removing well.
- Optionally, rodaja of lemon can be added to him to water one or a
trocito of cinnamon.
Utilities
It was used to cut the diarrea, and to clear the thirst and to
hydrate the organism in the days of much heat. To take two or three
cold glasses to the affluent day.
Water of Barley
for 6 150 people gr. grain barley 1 l. water 1 1/2 sopera
spoon sugar 1 skin of lemon (optional) 1 cinnamon in branch
(optional)
To put the barley in a strainer and to leave it under the cold
water spurt, moving grains with the hand to clean them. When the water
leaves is transparent, to let them slip briefly and to pass them to a
casserole.
To cover the barley with the water and to take to boiling. Then, to
lower the fire and to leave it this way until the barley grains are
tier to us (3/4 hour approx).
To strain the water and to leave it in the container in which one is
going away to serve. To add the sugar (1 and 1/2 is indicated
spoonfuls, but this amount of sugar can be modified according to
tastes) and to remove until one has dissolved.
If it wishes, it can add it to the water the skin of the lemon and the
small branch of cinnamon (to add them when the liquid already is
outside the fire).
To leave in the refrigerator and to serve cold.
That's a half cup of barley,
Afligido, me espanol es muy malo.
That's a half cup of barley, not an average one! Note how the translator program leaves verbs (verbos) in the infinitive form (to cover the barley, to leave in refrigerator...) Just take off the word "To." I don't think it is saying to use a litre of barley water. I believe it makes a liter of barley water. Tiernos = "are tender". I can't believe it would serve 6150 people! :) It serves 6 people. It uses 150 grams of barley. I'll bet it would be good with a tot of rum.
Ciao
Carlos
