Wednesday is Lenseday! Again(sday)!

The 80-200mm f/2.8D ED AF Zoom-Nikkor I "won" on eBay just arrived. w00t! Now I can finally retire my old zoom lense that was really too slow to be useful. (slow, in that it dosen't let enough light in).

My new lense is just like this one:

Yea, it's pretty phallic... But with camera optics, more phallic seems to equel better, and I'm OK with that.

Take this one for example:

I think it's time to start looking for a used Digital SLR and maybe some lighting...

I picked up an Olympus E-500

I picked up an Olympus E-500 kit just prior to Christmas. This camera does everything I want it to and came with two lenses. It was a good deal; I didn't have to remortgage the house! One lens is equivalent to a 30 - 55 mm and the other is about 55- 200 mm. These are "smart lenses" in that they each have their own built-in computers to handle focussing, aperature, and metering tasks. Occasionally, I have to "reboot" the lens by removing and remounting it, but that is really my only complaint. Anyway, it doesn't happen all that often. All of the "constructed images" I have been publishing here were acquired from my paintings using this camera.

I will be taking it out with me when I go cycling at Fanshawe this spring/summer/autumn.

Have a great long w'end one and all. Mike, have fun with the new toy. We'll be looking for more pics from you!

E500

I have been shooting with an e500 for about 2 years and I can say that it will do 95% of everything very well.  Low light shooting is a problem as isos greater than 400 will produce grainy shots.  Have fun shooting with a great 4/3rds camera.
