Bike Light Crackdown

Heads up Cyclists!

London Police have announced a bicycle light crackdown.
The Ontario Highway Traffic Act requires a white front headlight and a red rear reflector as the minimum standards from 1/2 hr before sunset to 1/2hr after sunrise.
They must be attached to the actual vehicle ( ie headlamps on your person are not technically in compliance)
Save some money ( and maybe your life) and light up !

Here we go again...

Yeah, I heard a London cop on the CBC being interviewed. It is the same as it always is here in London. Blame the victim seems to be the typical police mantra. If those "rogue cyclists" would just put lights on their bikes, all would be well. What of the criminal drivers who feel it is appropriate to run riders off the road, and kill us from time to time. The drivers survive, the cyclists get dead. I think that the playing field is a little uneven for the police to be making meaningful statements about the culpability of cyclists.

Lorraine and I have lights (and bells) on our bikes, but there have been times we have been deliberately crowded by hostile drivers and have been honked at, sworn at, had objects thrown at us from cars, etc, etc.

Cheers
