Silk-screening 2

Hello All,
I though I'd start this as a place for everyone to organize the second silk-screening event. The first one was a lot of fun and definitely an experiment!
Please post comments, suggestions, what you learned, what you hope to learn by coming to the second one, etc. What is a good date next month for everyone?

I would love to do a second

I would love to do a second night of silk-screening! The beginning of September is very busy for me so I'd prefer to have a second silk-screening night in mid to late September.

The first silk-screening night was great: I got over my hesitation to use the silk screen. I learned a bit about how to actually get the image onto the fabric (about the presure needed, etc) and how to clean the screen which is very important. I also learned that for small, simple images,hand-painting stencils works well and I'd like to try that as well.

I think during the second night I'd like to attempt to put an image on a shirt. Maybe we could also try to figure out how to use the blocking method?

Silk-screening Day 2 Announced!

THURSDAY OCTOBER 12th 7PM - Silkscreening workshop

143 William Street (backyard studio)

Come on out and learn how to silk-screen. A few of us
have had some practice now and want to spread the fun

- or spread paint through a very fine screen if you
want to be technical.

Here's what you should bring:

- A pre-made stencil, use vellum or thicker paper and
cut out a shape where you want the paint to show
on your fabric. Do something simple if it's your
first try!

- A piece of fabric to put your design on

- A piece of cardboard about 16" square to stretch
your fabric over

- A plastic bag to keep things tidy

- Masking or Painters Tape

- A pencil

- Fabric paint

- dish soap/simple green for clean-up

- If you have a silk-screen bring it! (we'll need to
share)

- same with silk-screening kits

Don't worry if you don't have everything on this list,
bring what you can, we'll share the rest.
It's fun,
you gotta come try it!

I'm so sorry about missing

I'm so sorry about missing the get together tonight. I've been feeling sick for the last couple days and wasn't sure if I was going to make it. Then I had a late afternoon nap and slept later than I had planned. I hope it was a great success!
