Medallion nears GO (tm), poised to collect $200

Lauded by area businesses, gushed (nay, fawned) over by committee members, tentatively approved by unity project board chair sylvia langer and warily eyed by a few local residents, medallion's proposed development of up to 600 apartment units in old east was unanimously endorsed by city council's planning committee on monday, june 16. final approval of the zoning variation is scheduled for debate and a vote by full council on monday, june 23.  read more »

Poverty hearings private?

 

 

CBC (the State-Run-Network) reports that a meeting in Peterborough of the Ontario Cabinet Committee on Poverty Reduction was an invite-only affair. Local activists were turned away from what was billed as a "public-consultation". If someone could help me learn how to cut and paste on this consarned thing, I'd let you know the exact site. Check cbc.ca/news/toronto, though, and you might be able to discern the verbal gyrations of the Premier to find out what he is actually saying.
